Our Legacy
Honouring the dedication and sacrifice
of Queensland’s frontline.
The Health Workers of Queensland COVID-19 Memorial Association exists to ensure the
tireless efforts of our healthcare community are never forgotten.
Who we are
We are a dedicated collective of healthcare professionals, industry representatives, and community members united by a singular purpose: to commemorate the extraordinary resilience shown by health workers across Queensland during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our association is built upon the values of reverence and gratitude. We represent the diverse spectrum of the healthcare sector—from nurses and doctors to pharmacists, paramedics, and support staff—recognising that the response to the pandemic was a collective effort of historic proportions.
“To remember is to honor. Our mission is to provide a permanent space for reflection, where the community can acknowledge the weight carried by those who cared for us when we were most vulnerable.”

When the Association was formed
A timeline of purpose and community-driven action.
2021
In the wake of the initial pandemic peaks, a group of healthcare union leaders and medical professionals gathered to discuss how to honor the immense personal costs borne by their colleagues. The need for a formal association became clear as stories of burnout and sacrifice emerged across the state.
By late 2022, the HWQCMA was officially incorporated as a non-profit entity, establishing a governance structure that ensures every dollar raised goes directly toward memorial projects and healthcare worker support initiatives.
Today
We now stand as a bridge between the clinical community and the Queensland public, managing ongoing tribute programs and long-term memorial sites.
Building a physical legacy for future generations of healthcare providers.
Our Supporters
The HWQCMA is proud to be supported by Queensland’s leading healthcare organisations and community unions.
